BILL GRIFFITH - BIOGRAPHY AND VISION
Bill's passion for art and nature goes back to his childhood. He began drawing and oil painting at age 13 with Lorri Hopkins and later with Fred Easker while living near Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He recorded his life in nature with sketchbook in hand and plein air painting on his family's property next to the Wapsipinicon River.
Later, he started an architectural stained glass business which began with his parents. The studio, named Shagbark Art Glass continued for 36 years. Bill designed hundreds of stained and fused glass windows for many homes, businesses, and places of worship.
Since 2024 Bill now lives in Austin, Texas with part of his family and is back to plein air and figurative oil painting. "True peace with oneself comes from creativity and spending time in nature." Bill acknowledges this is truly his spiritual inlet and outlet.
